Instructions for presenters

Presenters at Global Fuels Conference should carefully note the following points and deadlines.

Main points: Authors should supply the written document, biography and Powerpoint presentation by 22 January at the latest! Information presented at previous Global Fuels Conferences must not be repeated: All-new presentations are required.

General

Confirmed authors are included in the conference programme on the web site. Presenters are strongly encouraged to include new information in their presentations. Authors should use metric units throughout their presentations.

Conference proceedings

Presenters are expected to supply a written prose version of their oral presentation, for inclusion in the conference proceedings volume. The written prose version should not exceed 3000 words in length. The written prose version may be accompanied by tables, figures, diagrams and photographs.

All material should be supplied on by email to gfc@propubs.com. The written prose version should be supplied in the form of an MSword text document, with embedded images. Any separate tables, figures, diagrams and photographs should be supplied in the form of TIF or JPG files, saved at 300dpi and 120mm width. Please note that Power Point presentations are not acceptable for inclusion in the proceedings volume. All graphical material in the written version of the presentation must be accompanied by a full caption, and should clearly indicate its figure number/title.

All presenters must also send, at the same time, a separate MSWord document with a short biography (around 100 words), which allow the session moderator to introduce them.

The written prose version should be supplied to the convenor by 22 January 2008 at the latest. This will allow the organisers to compile the proceedings volume for distribution to delegates. If your material is not with the organisers by the deadline, you risk losing your speaker slot.

Conference oral presentation

Presenters will have 25 minutes each to give their oral presentation, and five minutes will then be allowed for questions. Please note that, in theory and in practice, presentations/questions are not allowed to run over their allotted time. All presentations will be given in English. All presenters will be able to use a tie-microphone and laser pointer (supplied).

All presentations should be given using Power Point software. Presenters should send a copy of their presentation by email to gfc@propubs.com, which will be installed in the correct sequence on the conference laptop computer. If your presentation includes any video clips, send the presentation (including movies!) on a CD to the following addrress: 1 East Street, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 1BB, UK.

The PowerPoint preentation version must also be supplied to the convenor by 22 January 2008 at the latest. This will allow the organisers to organise the production of a CD of presentations for distribution to delegates. If your material is not with the organisers by the deadline, you risk losing your speaker slot.

Important note

Presenters that do not submit material by these deadlines risk being replaced in the conference programme, from the waiting list of presenters. Thank you for your cooperation!

Presentation format

All presenters must use a standard introductory 'slide', which will include the conference logo, the title of the presenter and the title of the presentation. This slide must also be used at the end of all presentations, while the question session is underway. Other 'slides' may take whatever form the presenters wish, but should include the conference logo in any of the four corners.

Download Powerpoint introduction and end slide. (52kb)

(if you have any problems downloading the slide, contact the organisers as soon as possible)

Publication in Global Fuels Magazine.

All presentations from Global Fuels Conference will be considered for publication in future issues of Global Fuels Magazine. Presenters are requested to refrain from granting publication rights to magazines other than Global Fuels Magazine, until after publication in Global Fuels Magazine.

Best Presentation Award

The conference questionnaire will include a section allowing delegates to vote for their favourite presentations at Global Fuels Conference. A small prize will be awarded to the presenter of the 'best' presentation, at the informal reception at the end of the conference. There will also be a prize (the Convenor's Prize) for the first presenter to correctly supply all materials correctly to the organisers.

Global Fuels Conference will be hard work, but will be rewarding and will also be a lot of fun. The convenors of the conference would like to thank all presenters for their hard work.

We look forward to meeting you in London!
